FiveM CFX, Rockstar Games acquired it

Did Rockstar Buy FiveM? Cfx.re Ownership and What Changed

Yes. On 11 August 2023, Rockstar Games and Cfx.re announced that the team behind FiveM and RedM had joined Rockstar. The acquisition concerned the platform team; it did not turn every independently operated roleplay server or third-party resource into Rockstar property. The official announcement remains the starting point for understanding the change.

What the announcement actually promised

Cfx.re said its day-to-day operations would not noticeably change and described Rockstar’s support as an opportunity to improve FiveM. These were statements made in 2023, not a guarantee that every future price, policy or technical decision would remain unchanged. The announcement focused on FiveM and RedM and asked readers not to treat it as news about the next GTA.

What happened after the acquisition

The September 2024 anniversary update described engineering, support and infrastructure work. More recently, Cfx.re released FiveM for GTAV Enhanced in early access on 21 July 2026, explicitly warning of bugs and missing features. These are documented developments; they do not prove that every server has improved or that migration is automatic.

Rockstar also announced the nopixel V closed beta in September 2026, with invited players accessing that GTAV roleplay experience through the Rockstar Games Launcher. That specific project should not be described as universal Launcher access for all FiveM servers or as confirmed GTA VI roleplay support.

What this means for a server owner

Check current Cfx.re announcements, the requirements of your chosen GTA V edition and the documentation for each resource before making operational changes. Keep independent backups and source/version records. Your database, staff permissions, asset dependencies and community rules still need deliberate maintenance; an ownership announcement does not perform that work.

Figures for an acquisition price or private monthly revenue are not established by the ownership announcement cited here. Nor does it announce a GTA VI FiveM release. This article was checked on 10 September 2026 and separates the historical acquisition from later releases and unconfirmed predictions.
