There is no universal ReShade preset that makes every FiveM setup look better or run faster. Start from the unmodified image, then adjust a small set of effects for your display, the server’s rules and the performance you can sustain.
Edition check: Cfx.re’s Enhanced documentation currently states that Pure Mode is always enabled and graphics mods cannot be used during Enhanced early access. The modification workflow below is for a permitted Legacy setup.
Before choosing effects
Use an authorized ReShade release from the official project and follow the installation guide for your actual client renderer. Confirm that the server permits it. Availability of an effect does not guarantee that depth access or injection is supported in your multiplayer environment.
Keep the original preset and a clean client available. Record resolution, game graphics settings, weather, time and location for a repeatable comparison.
Build a modest preset
- Disable all effects and save that baseline. Check readable menus, skin tones and dark areas before making changes.
- Enable one sharpening effect at low strength. Compare fine edges and text for halos or noise.
- Adjust color or tone gently. Check daylight and night; avoid crushing dark detail or clipping bright surfaces.
- Add heavier effects only if they solve a visible problem and remain permitted. Check their own documentation and required shader version.
- Save the preset with a descriptive name and record its effect dependencies. Test the same route with effects on and off.
Choose for gameplay or recording
For ordinary play, favor readable scenes and consistent frame time. A cinematic preset that obscures shadows, blurs motion or makes UI text hard to read may be unsuitable even when screenshots look appealing.
For recordings, retain a consistent preset and disclose material visual changes when presenting a comparison. A preset alone does not add unsupported frame-generation features.
Fix problems one effect at a time
Missing shader: check the preset’s actual dependency and path. Compile error: compare the effect version with the ReShade release. New crash: restore the clean setup through the documented uninstall path. Poor frame time: disable effects individually and repeat the same scene.
Do not use claimed universal shader values, fixed FPS gains or ban guarantees as evidence. If you cannot trace a preset to its creator and required files, build a small documented preset yourself.
