This guide instead documents the identifiable xander1998/slashtires release, inspected at commit 6a874cffdd9b66fc40de631cb9f38e1e5718a312. Do not treat it as proof that the old download contained the same files.
Check the actual package and controls
The repository contains __resource.lua, client.lua, server.lua and README.md. There is no config.lua, inventory dependency or framework import. The client permits six named melee weapons: knife, bottle, dagger, hatchet, machete and switchblade. Approach a recognized wheel within one unit and press E to trigger the animation and tire damage. Keep the three Lua files together under your chosen resource folder and use that exact folder name in ensure. This is a legacy source reference, not a current production-readiness claim.
Resolve multiplayer validation before public use
The server forwards a client-supplied target player and tire index without checking the caller’s weapon, distance, vehicle or cooldown. The driver lookup also scans only player indices 0 through 32. These are concrete limitations for multiplayer use; a visible animation does not prove correct damage synchronization. Review authoritative validation and player lookup with a maintainer, then test occupied and empty vehicles, different network owners, unsupported wheel bones and bulletproof tires on an isolated server.
Respect the source terms and maintenance limits
The README identifies its license as Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0. Free access is not a promise of unrestricted editing or commercial use; check those terms for your intended setup. Xander stated in December 2021 that the resource had not been maintained for years. This review does not certify safety, performance or compatibility, and it does not redistribute a repaired package.
